My Ride: M3 Vert
The Most Horrible Noise My Car Has Ever Made! .. .Mp3 Attached!

I was, hoping that maybe some of you experienced guys could help me out. I have a 2001 M3 vert. With 61,000 miles When I pulled into my garage tonight, I heard a strange popping & groaning sound coming from underneath the car. I pulled out the voice recorder on my phone and kneeled down on the driver side in right in front of the back tire just in time to catch the car make the most horrible noise (you will hear this in the first 5 seconds of the recording, but it spudders and pops for like 2-3 more minutes) The car was off and keys out of ignition, and yes I am up on all of my matinince, fluids ect... No codes from the peake. The only thing that I have noticed lately is that my gas mileage is pretty bad - approx 12-14mpg. I was wondering if it could be the fuel pump heading on its way out? I am really hoping you guys can give me a hand with this. Thanks.
