Does the car need to be connected to a power source when doing the adaptation?

How often does this need to be preformed?

I have only done it once when we swapped over to the CSL SMG software. Before that I had 68,000 miles with nothing more than a soft reset done.
Hope that helped a little. At any rate, as long as something physical isn't messed up, you should be good for a long time after you reset... If you go through all of that though, you may as well do the CSL flash. |

You shouldn't have to do it for a while under normal driving. But it doesn't hurt to have it done every couple of years if you drive your car aggressively.
You will need a battery changer when performing the process.

Hello guys, today I went to a fellow member and he preformed 4 thing on my car with his autologic. Fully adapt the gear box, teach clutch value valves, teach in clutch slip point, reset the clutch characteristic curve an I think I'm not sure he did a teach in of the longitudinal acceleration sensor. My problem is now the car when changing gears jumps 500 rpms when up shifting with out letting off the gas. What could this be? Also was it wrong to do these thing all at once? There is also another problem. When engaging 3 or 4 gear the clutch slips or dose not engage well. Pleaseeeee help me out I'm worried that I have messed up my car. He told me that all these thing will get better once the car has adapted. I hope it's true.

Give it a couple of days. Vary how you drive and your speeds. Drive it like you stole it and also like granny on sunday.

I had a very similar result when I did this process with my AE for the first time. I found a thread over on m3forum.net where the op had the same issue. I did what he posted as the solution and my car has been shifting perfectly ever since.

I'm not sure. Of the posts, I have read, only the AE was mentioned. However, I have seen a few posts where it went exactly as planned when using the AE, so I suspect something else is to blame for the strange shifting after the update.

Also at the time the suddering and jerkiness started a vibration type of noise started coming from the transmission or around that area at 1900 rpm. What could this be?

It's only at 1900 rpm when cruising, accelerating and especially decelerating.
