Alarm Installed, Makes A Constant Beep?

Today, I was at the BMW dealer having my alarm installed. I bought a used OEM alarm and had it installed and coded. Everything works fine, except for the siren. When activated, it just makes a high pitched constant beep. It is very annoying and probably very good as a theft deterrent but extremely annoying. It is ear piercing! Can this be coded for a different sound by the dealer or do I have to buy a new one?

Did u buy a used alarm on here from a fellow member? Also did your alarm siren box have a "ece"
Code?

I had the same problem but found the solution

sent from my HTC EVO+ using Bimmer App

Yes, I did buy it used from a member, but I'm not trying to pin this on them, because I don't think they knew of the problem. Is the ece code on the sticker?

you have the European alarm, it only makes the electronic beep when the siren is activated, it can be programmed to be continuous or at an interval

Thanks for this, I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow and this will help.

Yes, the alarm sound can be programmed. Under "Alarm Acoustics" select continuous tone. The other option will give you that beep like the video above. I tested both when my alarm sound differed from my e39 when I had the e46 alarm retrofitted.

Unfortunately I had to have the dealer do it because I don't have that program. Where did you get it? I can't seem to find one that will work with a Mac.

The program shown is PA Soft. Works ideally with Windows XP. Does work with Vista and 7 with work. Some have gotten it to work on their Mac via running Windows via BootCamp. Either that or purchase a cheap laptop at a garage sale or ebay. Can be had for less than $100 if you shop around. The device and the laptop will pay for itself in a matter of uses.
