20-30 really isn't that impressive, it's pretty good but by no means unreasonable for someone who works at it...just saying.

Back story.. colleague claimed he could do 20 and that he used to be able to do north of 50 when he was younger. This guy NEVER went to the gym and had what seemed to be the wrong build to do something like that... 6'5, 230, and over 40 years old. So we had an office pool and the day came, we went to golds, and i filmed it... the following video was sent around to the company the next day and he won almost 300 bucks off it... again, this guy is 42 years old.

I'm not one to back down from a challenge so wednesday I'll do back and biceps and start off with pullups.

BTW, last time something like this came up, there were a lot of haters trolling on those who made solid efforts.. of course, those critiquing (for the most part) never participated. Let's leave that cr@p for the playgrounds and 5 year olds and be mature about it in here.

While I'm not taking anything away from him, thats QUITE impressive at 42 years old, his form really broke down when he started using swinging and momentum to get up over the elastic. I will do the same, film next weeks pull up beginning of the workout.

Agreed man, I try hard to use absolutely perfect form and not swing, or cross legs, do anything like that; I try to keep my toes pointed at the floor with my ankles together, lock the elbows straight at dead hang, and return to chin at or above the bar. I can honestly get to about 11-12 doing that and I've been working at it for a while.

Really? thought that would be average. I'm going to see how many I can pull off in one set tomorrow

burpee pull up's are even more fun. I did it once after a work out... about 2 sets of 10 each and almost passed out at the gym right after lol

Try static holds, figure out the weakest area of your pull, hold it there and start working it a little by going up and down a few inches working within the narrow range of motion that gives you the most trouble.

Everyone needs to post videos.

I'd be lucky to get 10. I also believe many if you dudes don't know wtf a pull up really is.

I think if you are of decent build and can do 15+ you are in elite category.

That being said, my brother is an absolute squid (think ectomorph in their prime) and he can rip off 15, just because of how light he is and the fact he rock climbs.

And remember... chin ups and pull ups are very different, and wide grip (WIDER than shoulder width) is even more difficult

And for the guy saying 20-30 isnt that impressive, post pics of your godlike body. It's incredibly impressive

I don't know I single person that can rip out 20 pull ups and some people I know are in very good shape. They might do 20 half pull ups but much like I used to be before talking to everyone here, I cheated on them. Nothing but dead hang now. If I get 6-7 oh well.

CRSmoak,

20-30 pull-ups isn't impressive?????? Okay! I rarely see ANYBODY go beyond 15, and that's usually with some kind of half-assed kip. Just for kicks, I'm going to have a friend video tape me tonight AFTER I dead lift, bench AND do four sets of 70 lb. weighted pull-ups. I guarantee that I'll STILL be able to yank 20+ pull-ups.....STRICT.
