problem with pasoft scanner
I have wasted 2 hours trying to make this work. All drivers were installed fine. No matter what I do it says "hardware not ready error." Also, it shows the unit as connected when i plug into the computer (green light). When I then plug into the car, light instantly turns yellow and shows as unit is not connected with "hardware not ready" error. Software was installed on Windows xp machine. I have a peake code reader as well and it connects fine.

You MUST plug the OBD connector into the car because the interface components in the adapter are not USB powered, they are powered via the cars 12 Volts from the OBD connector.
When you do that you should see the drivers actually install.

Try the other USB "B" port on the adapter, only 1 of the ports will work correctly.

See picture, my BMW Scanner interface has 2 USB "B" ports and only 1 of the 2 ports works properly.
Not sure if they are all this way?? Also try a different USB cable as well.

that is very strange, mine only has one. I bought it from xbox360, a sponsor here, version 1.40. It's not the USB cable since the notebook can see the unit fine under device manager.

Try another USB cable just for fun, no loss if you still have the same issue.

Maybe uninstall the software from your computer then plug in the 1.4.0 to the car and to your computer then load the software while its plugged in, and with the key on.

thanks for the advice, but I played these games for two hours, uninstalling software, drivers. Also, it shows the unit as connected when i plug into the computer (green light). When I then plug into the car, light instantly turns yellow and shows as unit is not connected with "hardware not ready" error. If it is plugged into the computer while it is already plugged into teh car, the light just stays yellow.

You supposedly MUST make sure that your laptop does NOT have Internet access while you are installing the software... At least that is what mine said. I have installed it straight away on both XP laptops and Windows 7 laptops... Both run great.
Something to try.

I read that in the instructions. The reason for it per instructions is that older windows xp machines will need internet off to disable automatic windows driver installation. per instructions, I have windows xp 3 and this does not affect me. It is only for turning windows update/driver search off allowing manual installing from the cd which I did.

Try a different USB cable and a different USB port on your laptop just for fun.
Also try installing the drivers when you connect the cable to the car not prior to it.

im getting the same error when i plug the scanner on my 2003 325i's OBD2 port but it works fine when i plugged it on my friends 2000 328i using the BMW 20 pin to ODB2 adapter. My 2003 325i does not have the round 20 pin under the hood but my friends 2000 328i has it.

Xcar360 owes me money. Mine didn't work, sent it back to china. Got it back a month later, still same problem as you. Bought another identical scanner off amazon, it worked first try. good luck getting any help from xcar.

Mine worked perfectly with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I had to search for alternate drivers
I installed my drivers with the adapter plugged into my laptop while on my couch. No car involved. |

Anyone find a solution to this. I have PA scanner 1.4 working on 2000 323i working through 20 pin connector in engine compartment. It is not working on the 2003 325i through the OBD II. It is not recognizing the car.
Update: I have tried it again. This time I hooked it to the car first, turned the key on then booted the computer and it worked. Dont know what may have changed. Last edited by BMWCaptain; 03-11-2013 at 09:30 AM. |
