Obama claims taxes will not increase under his reelection.
Obama gets reelected.
2 months later SS tax is raised back 6.2%.
People are up in arms because they tought the 4.2% rate would continue under Obama.
Obama fan boys reference 4 years earlier as the reference point for this tax.
Democrats always are pointing to the past.

I guess we are viewing this differently.


I would be upset if my tax bracket took a 5% jump whereas in the past it had been consistent at a certain rate.

I'm not upset that a temporary tax cut expired. I don't view that as lying, I view it as exactly what it is.

Well technically speaking they still went up. Had he worded his statement differently I wouldn't be calling him out on it. Maybe it's just the type A personality in me but when somebody says something they best be damn sure it can be interpreted the way it was meant.

Again it's a measly 2% percent increase but I hold people accountable to their actions and words.

I'm pretty type A, as well, and am all about holding people accountable. However, the world is not black and white and this, to me, is a gray area issue.

2 years ago when this 6.2 to 4.2 temporary tax cut was brought up, temporary is and was the key word in that phrase. If you're mad about it now, you should have had your anger then, too.

I don't think the timing is poor at all. Obama has been re-elected, he no longer needs us to keep his job in 4 years. Had the expiration have been last January, the expiration would have been extended.

Yes, they are. Something like 80% of Americans pay more in taxes today than they did in 2012.

Correct me if Im wrong, but I was under the impression that these taxes went up (allowed to expire) because republicans said we can't afford to keep them that low....because Obama refuses to cut anything....is that about right?

Only in America can taxes go up but the left will tell you they didn't.

What spin? I literally looked at my check stub from December 2012 and January 2013 and my taxes are higher. How do even argue that?
