www.tradingplaces.com, www.intervalworld.com, or just post here or some time share forum there will be hundreds of time share owners that will rent their weeks to you. Craiglist is good also.
You should get yearly invitation to meetings, go and complain, my time share group is very vocal, maintenance is always a concern. Although it has gone up, it's still extremely low compare to the market avg, which I've heard is around 800-900/yr |

I think I've seen some timeshares like mariott vacations in Vegas. So do I have to look for specific programs to rent from? Can I only rent on the week the owners have it?

That's why it's $900 now b/c everyone is from out of town and no one is flying there to complain. Mine is from Vegas and most owners are from Cali, short drive for them. I haven't been to any of the meetings myself but I do read the newsletters.

Whenever I go to any resort or Vegas they always try to sell us this timeshare cr@p. They usually target people on the streets that are a couple and the first thing they ask is if you're married, if you're not they leave you alone for some reason.
I'm surprised why any of you would even think its a great deal. Why would you visit the same place every year? Some say you can swap timeshare areas but even then a hotel is much cheaper and less of a hassle. This timeshare is a major big scam but you idiots keep falling for it. Almost as big as those Paypal or Nigerian scams out there. They give you a free BigMac meal and you buy a $5K timeshare from them. |

Only thing a timeshare is good for is siting through the bullshit pitch and collect free incentives/vouchers/drinks from the hotel

So no, it is not a scam, the only problem is, maintenance fees continues to go up, exchange fees goes up. The value of timeshare goes down and everyone is giving away their timeshares. You can get a nice timeshare anywhere for just the maintenance fee without the commitment. I've enjoy my timeshares but don't recommend it. When I brought mine over 10 years ago, there is no way you can get anything for $500/week. It was great at that time. To make things worse, my current employer has $199/week timeshare deals without buying one. None of that was available more than 10 years ago. Last edited by Ynot; 01-23-2013 at 01:33 AM. |
