Is 40 Rms Watts Enough

Your caps lock button might be stuck. 40 watts is definitely more than the 15 watts a head unit puts out, so it will be ok. But it really depends on how loud and how clear you want your music to be. It is all relative to your personal preferences. I would not get anything less than 100 watts, if budget allows.
On my last car I had about 150 watts per channel on my front speakers and it sounded pretty decent. I will probably go with 200+ on my next setup though. It's like horsepower. You can never have enough! |

Yeah Kicker isn't bad stuff, just a little cheezy/crappy looking designs. There high end stuff is actually pretty good.

What I'm suggesting is install (maybe not permanantly just yet) what you have with the intention of protecting for a larger amplifier if need be; put in larger than required power cable, and whatnot... this way if you are not happy with what you have, you'll be able to upgrade the amp and just swap out the old one? Just my 2 cents...
