Anyone know this vert?
Hey guys
just feeling some stuff out.... anyone know this particular vert? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...ax&sort=~Price I am looking for an M3 vert with a 6MT. This will essentially be driven by my brother but of course is there at other times for my enjoyment :If anyone knows of a good clean M3 vert for sale, please let me know. 6MT is a strong preference over SMG. Cheers! B

DesiredM posted about this M earlier. AFAIK It was an Import M3 that had quite a substantial amount of panel damage and was for sale earlier for low $20's and that has now been repaired/restored and new buyer is now selling for new asking price. Stay away

Saw the title and Instantly thought I bet it was the Estoril import one.
Up to you but I wouldn't touch it. Go inspect it if you want but buyer seems dodgy already "reason for sale is upgrading to a family car" but he has only had it for literally 2-3 months. Inspect it if you want but he is probably pulling a decent 10k profit over what he bought it and repaired it for. |

I ran a VIN check and got this:
L812A ENGLAND/IRLAND AUSFUEHRUNG NATIONAL VERSION GREAT BRITAIN So you are definitely on the money. Even assuming that the car is in perfect condition, my personal preference is to stay away from an import, especially one that has been purported to have had such an extent of repairs.

Personally, I would still have a look at it.
From what we know, the car used to have panel damage? Hence, sold for cheap. But what type of damage? Was there structural damage? Rust etc? If it was simply some small cosmetic stuff, and if it has been all fixed correctly, then why not at least have a look at it? For all we know, it could be a very nice example now that all the bits and pieces have been fixed up...and why can't he ask more since he has fixed it up to a high level? I think a thorough inspection would be great if you were interested...

It might have a busted subframe, but you wouldn't buy one of those

I would just call the owner and quiz him, why and when he bought it, how long has he had it? Accident history? And ask him if it's purchased locally.
Now he will know the honest answers to all of that, if he is honest (because you know most of the answers already) then it's worth having a look because he has probably fixed it decently but if he lies about it all then it could be safe to assume that he is dodgy and just trying to make a quick $$$ |
