They are fun to watch at the autoXs. I'm a fan and think it's a step in the right direction.

People on the forum are kinda wanting it to blow up so they can know what can be modified to prevent it. But the motor and the rest of the drivetrain are going strong still.

I'm a fan of the car, but the "omg dey boosted it to 500horzpowerz" stuff is getting old. A good tuner can get 600+ out of the S14 from the e30m3 with a big turbo...doesn't mean it's practical, reasonable, reliable, or has a good powerband.
Waiting for the STi version in a year or two.

thats a pipe dream. that car with 300 to the wheels would fetch 35k. these forced induction kits arent even putting 300 and its more than enough. dont forget the car is about 800lbs lighter than a genesis

300rwhp and 2800lbs would make an "awesome DD," huh? What's your weekend car? A rocket ship?

UPDATE: It now makes 604 HP and 472tq on the stock Shortblock at 23psi.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=PLEU_MjWls0 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30737 They are basically upping the heat untill something breaks. The only thing that had to be replaced so far is the clutch. Not bad.

I don't get how this is shocking news? It's based off of a subaru flat four... add boost and watch magic happen, nothing new here folks just no AWD. That block will take about 700 hp before it dies and even then it wouldn't shock me if it goes higher then that.

It's not based off a Subaru flat four. It IS a Subaru flat four. Subaru desined everithing on the engine apart from the DI system.
The fact the the engine OR ANYTHING ELSE (besides the clutch of course.) still hasnt broke at this horsepower range and psi means that the engine will be reliable for the people who only want 250 or 300 RWHP. That's what I like. And besides. Didn't the newer STI's have ringland failures? Not bashing, just asking.

The whole point of this 'experiment' is because they want to release a reliable kit to the public, so thay wan't to know what will break in testing. Nothing yet it seems. And althought that is impressive, I personally would build an engine to have the extra insurance.
(BTW This 604 HP and 472 Tq is for their stage 2 kit. Lol stage 2.)

This is what I was thinking would be a great track/DD car. Just change the tires. With the supercharger addressing low end torque, and being reliable it would be a win-win.
