I really hate to bring guns into this discussion, but the only reason North Korea is even able to exist is simply due to a disarmed populace. I am AMAZED that South Korea doesn't have guns by the dozen in every home. Did they not learn ANYTHING?

North Korea can be liberated easily....just need a few well placed drone strikes. Neither the people or most of their military actually support the regime. They only go through with it because of the consequences. Hundreds of soldiers defect annually. Eliminate the real threat (probably under 100 people) and all will be well. Hell, if we didn't have blowback from China, you can probably get it done in a weekend without sending a single American troop on the ground. Cut the head off the chicken, and the rest will simply just give up.

N. Korea would be stupid to launch any nuclear missiles...They'd be wiped out instantly (just look at the US and USSR during the cold war-'Mutally Assured Destruction'). I think they're more likely to just invade S. Korea.

Certainly they would be dumb to do it. And yes they would be wiped out but you know when you're so mad at something you just want to make a dent in it? Sometimes you don't think of the consequences. It's a bad analogy but they are apparently very hateful of US, which could be completely blinding them of the real repercussions of their actions in all this. And a nuke going off in DC or New York, I doubt would effect me much here in TX but it would certainly decimate a lot of the northeast and of course the after-effects of such a bomb.

We should be worried that that government (not its people as previously pointed out) may actually be suicidal or thinking themselves martyrs for being the only to nuke America and go into history. It's a concern. But I won't lose any sleep haha.

Seems like all you would need is an assassin's bullet to stop this crap.

Everyone there is repressed and I wonder if they would even fight over it.

Drop leaflets for days then launch a surgical strike to take out this clown.

While this is a great theory, many people thought the same things in Afghanistan and Iraq...and people are still fighting there years after the leader was taken out.

You will always have the crazy fanatics within a country who will see the removal of a regime as an opportunity to get together and truely retaliate and that's where the issues begin. There's an IED on every corner, suicide bombers, attacks on areas with large groups of people, etc...the kind of guerilla warfare that isn't easy to defeat.
