More power from a 323ci, How?
Hey all,
How you all been? thats good! oh thats a shame sir. I hope you have enjoyed that miss. Now that pleasantries are out of the way, Its been a while, and I think we need to gather the information that has been floating about the interwebs for a while. I know that a lot of you will read the title and tell me to google it, But the only decent posts are a couple years old, and I think that in that time we might have some more products available that we didnt have before, maybe cheaper better products, or maybe just someone who figured out a way to do it better than someone else. So to kick things off: The simplest way to get some power (though not most cost affective or cheap) http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vf-e...--m-p2629.aspx $4500 apparently getting 100hp (74kw) and 80 ftlbs (108nm) at only 6psi, which compared to other turbo units on say a wrx which runs at 15-20psi this probably wont destroy the engine as quickly as bolting a high psi turbo or supercharger to it. of course this is a very hardcore part (compared to people changing air filters which I will let someone else see if they can prove a cold air intake is better than a stock one) so yeah, Throw up your ideas and hopefully this will gather some of the newer products (as well as the old faithful ones) ~Pythonis |

VF-E makes a solid kit though you don't have any form of intercooler and you can't add one. So if you go this route, just realize that you're basically capped.
Alternatively, AA and ESS have kits that you can throw on a stage 1 and upgrade later to larger power.

so stage one of the ESS kit gets the same power increase for a little bit more money:
http://www.esstuning.com/products/M5...28TS1%29-.html but the stage 2, for almost 7 grand gets it up to 300hp (220kw)http://www.esstuning.com/products/M5...28TS2%29-.html What I dont understand is, what is the difference between these stage one and stage two components as they both have the supercharger in them, I assume if you upgrade to a stage 2 you sell off the stage one? |

^ Remember that there will be differences between the LHD and RHD kits to allow for things like the steering column. IIRC, the RHD kits are a little more expensive and are more recent releases than the LHD.

Found a local jdm club, they were... to put this simply, rather rude
So I have to decide to either keep the bimmer for longer than 2 years and get it over 300hp (224kw) with mods; orrrrr get a new car. I mean I love the cosmo as a car, A mate of my dads has been in one and he says they're pretty awesome, but if the jdm community (or hopefully its only the one up here) is going to be as rude as they were im a bit hesitant to be part of that crowed that and I hear porsche 930s are getting cheaper to rebuild. aaand in 2 years E46s might go down another 10 grand? I dunno, Just making plans ![]() Oh~! another way for cheap to get more power out of the 323ci is to reset the computer, drive on less than half a tank of fuel and get it serviced! ![]() ~ Pythonis |

oh and also for monitoring power and the such:
http://www.palmerperformance.com/pro...mand/index.php http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271052666...84.m1439.l2649 (wifi OBD 2 receiver) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270930412...ht_3370wt_1397 (for the obd2 20 to 16 only if you have anything pree 2001) Its worked well so far, still needs tuning in the system, still got 110kw (roughly) according to the ipad/computer |

Just quietly there is no way e46s will drop 10k in 2 years. E46 M3s will probably start to level out around the 30k mark for a 01-02 and the 03-04 around the 33-38 and the 05-06 around low 40s. I don't see them really breaking the under 30 mark anytime to soon, maybe in 5-6 years yes but not in 2. Same goes with a non M like in 2 years I doubt you could get a 02-04 330Ci for 8-12k!?? They aren't in e36 territory just yet.

Lol yeah I think most people would. The price on them is coming down but not that quickly but anyone who buys one now or has one already will take a loss. Hell I bought a 2002 330Ci Estoril Blue coupe about a year ago and sold it after having it for 9 months. Bought it for 22500 and sold it for 18500. Now I would say it would be worth 17-18. I think again with these cars it would bottom out at 15 in 2 years.

Uh... guys... I hate to say it, but you can get 330Ci's for 14k.... I've seen 330i's sell for sub 10k. E46's have dropped 3-5k in the last year alone.

Yeah by my pricing I meant decent condition ones, I've seen a fair few 330Cis for sale sub 14 as well however most have 170,000kms plus so that's why they are cheap. I can't see for example a 2003 330Ci with 90,000kms being $11-12k in 2 years...
