Good morning mate, I have 2 problems with my 04 318i E46.
1.A yellow oil light lights up on the cluster when the car starts. I have the right amount of oil in the engine.
2. The car didn't come with an owners manual and service history. How do I program the display and connect the android touch phone via blue tooth. It just had to happen....

I've been wanting to overhaul the entire cooling system but since I'm under the dealership's warranty (they're very good and true to their word) the dealership wouldn't replace any of the parts until it failed (despite my warnings and referencing to this forum!).

Well it did - spectacularly! Was cruising down the M5 to visit my in laws, and then boom, of a sudden - coolant level warning comes up. Pulled over and switched off engine immediately, grab my 5L of distilled water in the boot to top up but no need to! Coolant was dumped all over the road, definitely not a trickle. Chinese New Year, pregnant missus and 9 year old son, parents waiting, , and 36 degree heat = not fun!

Waited for a tow for a couple of hours whilst trying to organise who pays for what. All up, now car is in Canterbury BMW while they assess what needs to be replaced!

Moral of the story - change those expansion tanks!

Absolutely! Expansion tank is a very weak point... glad you're covered under warranty though

Better the expansion tank failing than the radiator!

Warranty is a double edged sword - I get the free parts replaced but I don't get to do the work I want done (voids the warranty).

Yeah I can't wait to install everything,I but the bullet on the speakers because I had 4 fail on me and thought fvck it

Well I'm definitely doing the pillars myself and my uncle is an automotive upholsterer so yeah I may get his expertise

I'm a little unsure as well but after being in my uncles individual m3 with suede headliner it felt really nice (since i hit the roof in almost every car)

It's either this or black/dark grey fabric

It should come out pretty nicely. So was it the M3 that inspired you to change it or is your current one ruined ?

Both lol, my pillars are flapping in the wind really badly and I want to change it to black fabric or suede....suedes only 22$ a meter (1450mm wide) and its foam backed
