Question FUNKY Tail Light? '01 325xi

So my wife called me from work this morning saying that the driver's side tail light on our '01 325xi would not go out. She said she opened the trunk, pecked on it a bit, then pulled the module out & pecked on the bulb... it would not go out. So, she removed the bulb, then put it back in & it still came on... so she just removed it entirely. I have no idea if it's a brake, turn signal or what, only she said the tail light.

What would cause this & what should be done now??

Move the turn signal switch back to the center position.

There was a recall on this issue. Check with your BMW dealer, they fixed mine for free. It has to do with grounding fault.

that would not cause the bulb not to go out. It was most likely the turn signal stalk in the parking light position.

Thanks, Folks, I'll have her check that the turn-signal is turned off when she parked. No dealership here, closest one about 2 hours away.

*UPDATE*

All is well, Folks, She HAD accidently parked the car after making a left turn & the signal lever was still in the Down position.

Thanks!
