Rogue Engineering X-pipe with EVC
So I've searched all over and still cant find much info on this piece...Right now i have ebay headers, RE Rasp pipe, stock section 2, and the RE El Diablo muffler and I'm thinking about ordering the X-pipe with the EVC. I've heard that its incredibly loud with the valve opened, but haven't heard much about how it sounds with the valve closed. Anyone running a similar set up to mine or know how different the car will sound with the X-pipe with the closed valve??

It sounds a bit louder than stock with it closed. With eBay headers, I'm sure it will be even louder.
I've got OEM headers -> 2x AR20 -> Rogue w/ EVC -> Stock muffler

Alright so when the valve is closed it shouldn't be too much louder than it already is with the set up that i have?

I have one, but find myself driving with it closed most of the time. With valve closed it sounds stock. Open and its pretty loud. But you can open it just a bit if you like if you just tap the switch instead of holding it down to open - usually what I do.
My section 1 and muffler are stock. I had a RE Section 1 before I put the stock one back on. Not much sound difference during regular driving.

Alright thanks, that's what i was hoping. Does the EVC kit come with a button/switch or do you have to buy one separately?

I've run one for about a year and a half with headers, rasp terminator section 1, RE w/ EVC section 2, and stock muffler and it's been pretty amazing. Well worth it if you like things LOUD. The S54 engine will never really sound great so when it's that obnoxious it doesn't really matter haha...
But yes when it's closed it sounds exactly like what you are used to. After a while the dump valve can get gunked up and doesn't seal perfectly but it's not noticeable unless you're under the car. When it's open it just about shakes the ground and pops flames. At cruising through town speeds it's not really that bad though, I run my open 90% of the time. Install was easy and the switch mounts perfectly in a lot of places including the cig lighter. I'm changing to a bimmerworld race exhaust next month. Not sure when you're trying to buy one but I'll have mine up for sale soon with less than 8k miles on it. Sometimes they go on backorder too, I had to wait like 4 months for mine ![]() Here's a vid of mine with the valve open at the track. It's in car but with a mic'd GoPro. ******** width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WO0sk3BI5d0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>*********>

I have one sitting my my garage waiting to put on... Though I agree with the above statement that the motor will never sound great and one reason why I might actually sell the car for something else... No matter what anyone seems to do they sound like a civic...

Hey hey hey come on now... that civic comment was harsh... I've had quite a few cars myself that sound so much better including an AMG v8, GM LS v8's, and even an old vr6 R32 but none of those cars can get close to comparing to driving an e46 m3. So unless you plan on buying one of the better sounding M cars don't sell yourself short!
I actually like the sound of my car with a nearly open exhaust. The chaos you can hear going on inside the engine is a bit more special than anything else. But once again, that's race car get arrested kinda loud so the dump valve really is the perfect solution if you still have to commute or need to be stealthy on high speed windy roads. I'm almost talking myself out of selling mine hahaha

Sorry just how I feel... When this is sold it will be replaced by a 911TT... I think that should have a pretty sweet exhaust note.... Trying to find a way that I will enjoy the exhaust note though...

Here is mine before headers with one AR 20 in sec 1 and Eisenmann muffler (open and closed):
![]() Then I put on ESS550 and headers: ![]() Its extremely loud when open. By that I mean it cuts your hearing drums out... Closed, not that much louder but just a diff tone.
