Have you guys heard about the .17 Winchester Super Magnum?

Winchester has announced its new .17 Super Magnum rimfire round. 20 grains at 3,000 feet per second. "shoots fairly flat out to 300 yards" It's made from a necked-down .22 nail gun blank which Winchester already makes boatloads of, so they say it should cost about the same as .17 HMR at ~$15/50 (or cheaper according to some sources I've seen). Savage will be coming out with the first rifles for this round.

I like that it's a rimfire. The .17 Fireball is a smoker of a round, but being centerfire, it's more expensive. I'm actually intrigued by this thing.

Im pretty excited about this, savage made an awesome bolt for this cartridge but its not out yet. Only $349 too.

I think the new boogeyman is using a .22 to "take down the power grid" by shooting at transformers.
