Still can't get my HID fogs to work?

Edit: Forgot to mention it's a 2003 325xi...

So a while back, after I got some cosmetic work done, I opted to buy an HID kit for my fog lights because it was a cheap solution to my broken high-beams problem. The additional brightness really helped considering I live in a pretty rural area and it can get pretty dark at night.

Anyway, I bought DDM 9006HB4 HID kit with the harness in 35watts. I got the harness installed properly and everything seemed to work fine. I made sure to test them before I installed the ballasts, housings, and covers just so I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of removing everything should something go wrong.

So after a while of trying to get these to work, I turn the key, press the button, and finally I see light. I'm pretty excited at this point. I turn my car off and go get my mum to show her. When I get back and try them, nothing happens.

I look around the car, making sure all connections are tight and that's when I noticed the stock 9006 connection to the old halogen fogs has snapped (as seen in this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=966540). I figure because the wire is snapped, the car has some safety feature that makes it so the fogs don't turn on.

I hop online and order a new one, hoping I can splice it on or use a male and female quick-connect. So this extra wire finally comes and I get everything installed properly. I turn the key expecting everything to work fine and... still nothing. I double check all connections and everything seems fine. My harness seems to be properly installed, and I checked to make sure the fuse wasn't blown (it isn't).

I really have no idea what my issue could be. Am I missing something somewhere?

Cheers

have you checked the bulbs? ive heard that new HID bulbs have a "break-in" procedure, turning them on for 15 min the first time they turn on.

Disconnect everything. Connect the ballast directly to the battery (12v source) and see if they work. Swap bulbs with each ballast. Then you can rule out the relay harness and / or other defective components.

Well they did work the first time, so I don't know if that rules out faulty bulbs.

How do I connect the ballast directly to the battery?

Get some wire, connect one wire to a good ground. Connect the other wire to a switched 12v source. Connect the other ends of the wires to the ballast at the 9006 plug connector. There is a perfect connection point in the engine bay (drug bin) and the truck (battery tray).

In this case, Radio Shack is your friend, and/or the junk yard.

Materials required;
22ga wire
several female spade connectors.
wire strippers (optional)
multimeter (optional)
electrical tape (optional)

Have you tried the original bulbs? Or connect the ballast directly to the fog light harness.
