Wisdom teeth extraction
Had all 4 pulled 8 days ago. Was given novocaine and laughing gas. The top 2 were easy. The bottom 2 were a bitch. They grew in such a position that the back 1/4 of each were under my jaw. As a result, the dentist had to grind away some of the rear jaw for clearance and break the teeth in half in order to extract. Not just extract, but pull for dear life - those bastards were f'in anchored in there. The tooth sockets seem to have healed, but my jaw is still sore and kind of raw. There is also still some small oozing from where the jaw was taken away. I am guessing all of this is normal. He said it would be a couple of weeks for full recovery.
What has everyone else's experience been?

I had a similar experience... I was put under as mine were a bear to get out. He basically had to crush my bottom ones to get them out. They oozed for a week or two and then healed. The b!tch was that a few months later I bit down on something hard and felt brief pain... and something pointy... It was a shattered tooth splinter that worked its way out from my gums. This happened 2-3 times as I recall. I pulled them out with tweezers and moved on.
Makes me wonder if the guy was a dentist or a sadist.

Heh, not really. Surprisingly that's the first time anyone has made that joke to me.
I'll tell you what though, for the first few days after the procedure, I just didn't give a rat's ass about anything because I was on percocet most of the time. One bad thing though - I didn't read the side effects and was unpleasantly surprised to be painfully constipated by day 2 or 3.

I'm lucky and have enough room for mine to grow in. Thank God. Sounds really rough what they had to do to get your bottom ones out

The procedure on the bottom teeth was very tedious but I didn't feel a thing thanks to novocain. The recovery time appears to be proportional to the amount of grinding and tugging required for extraction.
