That's bad handstand form.

....at least from a gymnast, body control/balance perspective. I've seen CF'ers do it that way though.

That's exactly how you're supposed to do it. Your fingers play a very important role when balancing on your hands. Kinda like playing a piano on the floor. There is a small amount of space between your palm and the floor (..i.e..your palms aren't completely flat).
