I could have bought a SIG556, and a pair of Sportster CS seats for the price of that welding machine...

But yeah, if you have any work, I'd be happy to do it for experience and to start paying off this welding machine.

How is referencing a scientific fact oversimplifying? Do you think I arbitrarily made up the calorie-pound conversion? I suppose its also oversimplifying to state that 3.78 liters are in a gallon?

Want to find a 9mm. Gonna go to the range in the next two or 3 weeks and rent some guns with a friend to find something I like. Already picked up a few hundred rounds.

All the mods have slightly different takes on what's okay and what isn't...and I guess the squeaky wheel does get the grease.

Still, you should be able to disagree with anyone you want about anything, as long as you leave both you and them an 'out' to squirm out of...if needed.

See, Miles? It's easy.

I remember when I studied Thermodynamics in college that if you ate a 1,000 calorie meal (food calories are really 1,000 'real' calories) and you wanted to neutralize the effect, all you had to do was eat 17 lbs. of ice.

I remember thinking, man, our body is really good at producing energy from food.

Someone can doublecheck my math...it was a while ago, but I'm sure I'm remembering correctly.

Eat whatever you want, and then a ton of ice afterwards!

Source?

I know there is no way to directly measure that, so I'm skeptical of what is actually being measure and how it was measured.

lol wut.

unlike you, I'm not making crap up. since you seem to think I'm arbitrarily throwing info out, perhaps info from one of the foremost medical centers in the U.S. will enlighten you:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/calories/WT00011

Tipping the scale: Cutting calories

Because 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound (0.45 kilogram) of fat, you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you take in to lose 1 pound. So if you cut 500 calories from your typical diet each day, you'd lose about 1 pound a week (500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories). It isn't quite this simple, however, and you usually lose a combination of fat, lean tissue and water. Also, because of changes that occur in the body as a result of weight loss, you may need to decrease calories further to continue weight loss.

17 pounds = 7.7 kg.

heat of fusion/melting for ice is 334 kJ/kg so that would mean 2572 kJ to just melt 0C ice and turn it to 0C water.

2572kJ equates to 614 large calories.

warming up the water to body temp:

7.7 kg * 4.186 kJ/kgK * 37 K = 1193 kJ = 285 large calories

614+285 = 899 large calories to melt 17 pounds of ice.

Not far off.

BMW of North America lists the E46 M3 manual coupe curb weight as 3,415 lbs and the E46 manual 325ci coupe as 3,252 lbs. It's common knowledge the M3 is heavier than its non-M counterpart. Ask Alex323ci if you don't believe me.

We all know convertibles weigh more than coupes regardless of what engine is in them.

Ah, some of you are watching a football game I surmise.

Let me know when a commercial comes on.

Miles...you're multi-talented! I loved the professor I had in that class...actually, it was Chemistry, not Thermodynamics. He once said that scientists thought that electrons were like the ouji bird, which had one wing shorter than the other, so it would fly around in smaller and smaller circles until it flew up its nucleus. Something like that. Very funny...and I remember it almost 40 years later. That's some teacher!

Anyway, so there's your diet guys...eat ice. Once you get filled up, I believe you'd get a similar effect if you just laid in a bathtub filled with ice or hung out in a commercial freezer for a while. Just send Miles your dinner menu, he'll calculate the time you need to chill.

Hmmm? The "Freezer Diet"? You know, I think I'm going to work that up as a real thing, post it in the health forum, and see if I can convince anyone to try it?

lol, u mad, or just being dramatic.

All in housewife terminology and doesn't say exactly what it is including or how it was measured. Is that "1 pound" including lean tissue and water or excluding it? Is that 3,500 calories an average? How was it measured? etc...

Another thing is you realize the difference between exerted energy and consumed energy as well, correct?
