It's finally mine.

Collected the car this morning at 5:00am. The drive back to work was awesome. Unfortunately it's been raining in Brisbane this morning. Once I've had an opportunity to clean the car I will take some of my own pictures and post them up for you.

Happy days.

Only with BMW can you be thrilled to go from a five yr old V10 supercar to a 20yr old four-pot and absolutely LOVE it. This is what I love about our marque!

Are you bringing it on the next brekky run?

Just pottered back to work Dec.

For a 1.8 litre 4 cyl I am very impressed with the engine. Of course it's no rocket ship, but it is linear in its power delivery and very happy to rev.

And I should have said and now say that you are exactly right about the thrill. The E60 M5 was truly an epic car. Properly quick for a production car and even more impressive considering it is a heavy arse 5 seater sedan.

But, this little E30 is ridiculous. It is small and light and you sit low in it. Love it.

The car was clean when I got it then I had to drive it through the rain.

So I gave it a wash today and had a really close look at it. Cliffs version is that it needs a thorough polish.

I'm going to get some new polishing pads during the weeks and then go to town on it.

The boot lid is probably the worst - lots of swirls. The wheels also need plenty of attention. No gutter rash but a but grubby when you get right up close.

Once it has been polished I will post some proper pics of it.

I think I may have already said that the momo steering wheel that came with the car was chronically small - so small in fact that you could not read the gauges! (Previous owner put a standard wheel on for road worthy but borrowed the wheel from a friend of his so not included in the sale).

The result of this is that I purchased an E30 M3 Evo 3 wheel from VAC Motorsports in the States. It is a suede wheel. Much nicer than the momo wheel for sure.

Here is a pic of the 2 wheels side-by-side by way of comparison.

I haven't actually put the wheel on yet (only had 5 minutes to play with the car last night and the momo hub is not playing ball and won't come off). Once I have swapped the wheels over I will post another picture for your viewing pleasure.

have you tried tightening the nut back up and giving the the momo hub a whack? Sounds stupid, but when mine's stuck on the mazda, I tighten it back up, not completely tight, give it a whack to get is out of place a little, then when i loosen it the hub comes off easily.

Haven't tried it - as I said I had 5 minutes to look at it last night. Took the wheel off, undid the nut and pulled the hub - wouldn't budge.

That's the plan tonight - put the nut back on so when I get the hub off I don't take my head off! Affix the wheel back to the hub - give it a few bangs then pull it off. Hopefully.
