Yo you guys are the sh!t. My 2000 323ci was misifiring after I changed the spark plugs and coils brand new from pelican parts. I just did the 10 second on, then 10 second off and now it runs perfect and its faster.

Sooo, basically what this reset does is pretty much the same thing that the sprint booster does, but the sprint booster probably removes the adaptive throttle program entirely, so it's like you're constantly resetting it without constantly resetting it. Right?

All a sprint booster does is boost the signal the DME sees from the throttle pedal. It may trick the DME into thinking that 30% is actually 50% for example. The DME will still try to make adaptations though (though chances are, the adaptations will end up being more aggressive than without the sprint booster). |

Is there any way that we know of to permanently disable Throttle Adaptation, although I'm sure if there was we'd know about it.

It worked on my 2004 330xi auto, picked up significant torque at lower rpm, idle is more quiet but gas mileage dropped from 18.8 MPG to 18.3 MPG city/highway mix ( 30 miles daily). In general I a noticed great performance improvement except the MPG
!!!!I kind of like driving my car more now |

I did this and i dont know if it worked for me or not. I didnt drive the car to find out. But i didnt do it for better performance or mileage.
I did it to see if the throttle would set to 0% at idle. Mine is sitting at 10.2% and in another post with some fuel trim problems were trying to find out if idle throttle position is 0% or 10%. Another fanatics shows 0 on theirs. When doing this procedure it stayed at 10% If anyone has software showing where it sits i would like to know because im about to drop $270 on o2 sensors and a maf. We have ruled out many items that would cause high fuel trims under load. the problem is intermittent. Lots of data has been graphed and the throttle position doesnt seem to match the rest of the datas flow patterns. it doesnt have a bad fuel pump and no vacuum leaks. |

OK, tried it this evening. Did the reset, and went for a drive.
Holy crap! I was skeptical reading this thread but it really does work. It is a noticeable difference, especially when taking off from a red light. Throttle response is sharper, more responsive, and it even seems to hold onto the gears abit longer in D mode (on the steptronic). When in S mode, it feels sharper again, and bolts off a red light like a bat out of hell. It feels very willing, very revvy, and you actually gotta keep easing off the gas to reign her in. Don't know how long this sharp feeling will last, as I guess it will eventually "adapt" if you spend most of your time pottering around in stop start peak hour traffic...but all it costs is 20 seconds probably every fortnight or once a month, and you get this feeling back again. Can't complain about that!

I tried the reset this AM for the first time. It's hard to tell if the throttle is more responsive, but I notice that even in "D" the shifts are snappier, less lazy. I'm quite happy with the change in shift character, and will if the driving overall seems significantly different. Thanks OP!
