I have not and will not buy an iPad mini as it is a pointless device. I already have an iPad and an iPad mini...it's called an iPhone.

I have an iPad 3 already. Just saying I have no use for an iPad mini since an iPhone is essentially an iPad mini already.

I bought my mom an iPad Mini because she wanted to replace her Kindle with a device that is more than just an e-reader. The iPhone is way too small to be used for this purpose.

That's pretty much why Apple saw a chance to expand their market share. The Mini can offer everything a Kindle/e-reader can, plus much more. Kindles seem pointless now.

Except for being able to read in bright direct light and a battery lasts for a month or more.

For those that want an e-reader, it's still tough to beat the e-paper models and for those that want a tablet, you're better off either getting an iPad regular (bigger) or a Nexus/Kindle HD (cheaper).

I have an iPad, iPhone 5, MacBook Pro and an iPod shuffle. I love Apple products and I loved the Steve Jobs philosophy behind the design of the products. However, I am not married to the company. If and when the market brings me something that can meet my needs better, I will certainly try it. For the time being, it doesn't get any better than Apple for me. All of my devices integrate seamlessly and they look good and feel even better to boot.

What more does it do? It's used as an internet browser for 85 percent of its users. Kindle does it for less than half the cost with a better reading exp.
