Another Angel Eye thread

Hey everyone. I keep looking everywhere for an answer and I can't quite decide what I want in terms of Angel Eyes.

What I'm looking for is something which resembles the newer OEM angel eyes on the f10, f30 and newest X3's.

Everyone says go orion V2s, but after seeing them in real life, I do not like how the leds are spaced far apart, and am looking for something which is a bit closer together.

Does the Opaque option fix that?

And what about these Helios AE's from Khoalty? I can't seem to find any close up pictures of them at all

V4s use 120 compared to 60 LEDs, less spacing

If the v4 is too expensive you can go orion lites, with the 120led option, i haven't seen any pictures of the 120led version, but i am planning on getting 120led or v2 on my next payday :>

what do you like about the newest lights? is it the shape, color, or the oem headlight integration?

shape, ive never seen the newer styles for an e46.
color, plenty of them out there, not an issue.
OEM integration, the P46 has the halos built into the headlight and integrates better the orions, but is very dim.

I just want the oem color of them, with little to no spacing between the LEDs.

6000K is about the same color. CCFL has less spaces between from what i've seen in person, a lot smoother. but i wouldn't risk putting CCFL in my car. more led's are your better bet.

The Orion LITE X120 are probably your best bet if you want something "cheap" but still want no gaps.
Opaque frosts the lenses so you can't see the LED when off on the Orion V2.

The Orion V4 are 0 gap and 0 failures with lifetime warranty, so their price is higher.

I have just this weekend installed the DEPO P46 - all I did as I did not want to mess around wiring in Halo Rings and quite liked the integrated look was to change the bulbs in the angel eyes from normal halogen bulbs to the Philips Vision Ultra (xenon effect) 5W5 bulbs. These give the angel eyes a nice white colour without being too bright. Also you do not get the gaps as you do with LED angel eyes.
I would post a picture but have not worked out how to do that yet.

Just worked out how to upload a photo. These are the DEPO P46 that were installed at the weekend. Just the standard P46 lights and just changed the angel eye bulbs for the Philips blue vision ultra (xenon effect) 5W5 bulbs. There are 6 bulbs to change in each headlight (3 per ring).
I think it turned out okay the light is a crisp nice white light.

Also forgot to say that the Osram Nightbreaker H7 bulbs match the colour of the Philips 5W5 bulbs pretty much spot on. Just thought this might help.

Yeah those look good, but I don't wanna use depo headlights. Rather stick with my oem bosch ones.

Just a question.

Why do so many of you not approve of Depo Head Lights? I was thinking of buying them to install on my car. The only reason why I haven't yet is because they go for about $500.

For what it's worth, I love my V4s. I know they're a little more expensive, but they're worth it! No gap, lifetime warranty and all the "extras" made them an obvious choice.

2nd picture has headlights off! All AE there!

DEPO headlights are only about $250-350 a pair depending on options from us. They are decent lights and have unnecessarily acquired a less than stellar name.

For about the same amount of money however, you can uprade your existing lights with our H1 Morimoto-Style projector systems. They are easily installed by any average level skills and produce better effects:

WiessLicht opaque. I think bimmian sells them. They look the most OEM, have a stellar track record, and are about 160$.

Weisslict = Orion lite
or put another way:
$Weisslicht/2 = Orion Lite price wise.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Are they plug-n-play? Can the angel eyes be set up as DLR or did you install a separate switch?

Hi yes they are complete plug n play. As we did not change the angeleye rings that came with the lights and just used the integrated angel eyes just changed the bulbs then they come on when you switch the side lights on . They run off the same connection as the small current, small wedge bulbs do. Therefore there is no need for a seperate switch as use position 1 on the headlight control panel. This is the UK version so I dont know if the headlights and headlight switch is different on US spec cars. Just used the wiring loom already on the car and plugged the new lights into that.
The bulbs that came with the lights for the angel eyes were stock halogen W5W bulbs so swapped them all for Phillips Blue Vision Ultra W5W bulbs which give a nice white light with a more subtle bightness rather than in your face; bright which is quite nice. Use the Osram nightbreakers for the main lights and they match the colour of the Philips lights really well.
