Lightbulb TV Gurus... Thoughts on this TV?

http://www.televisioninfo.com/conten...DTV-Review.htm

Reports say this TV can be picked up for $700.00 flat price point, shipped to my door... Anyone have thoughts on this TV?

I don't know very much about what makes a TV great these days... but I'll start with things I think I want:

1080p
>= 120hz
> 42"
SmartTV w/ WiFi
All those cool Integrated Apps
Be good for FPS gaming. xbox live, etc. (No notable or excessively bad delay or lag time from signal inputs or motion-blur)
Hopefully be able to watch/stream .mkvs or other file types
To spend < $1000, but if there is some "must have" TV just above it, I could increase budget. (really looking for bang for buck)

The brands I've looked at are: Samsung, Panasonic, Vizio, and Sharp.

I currently have a 32" Samsung which has served me well for 6 years, however it has two columns of pixels going out, which intermittently turn purple or brown for a few hours and then come back . This TV can only do 1080i/720p. Now that prices are falling (as they always do), I'm considering picking up a new one.

Also, I don't have a huge amount of viewing area in my current residence, in other words, I think I have approximately 75-85 inches in between where I'd set the TV and where I would sit to view it.

If it matters, I do have a Costco Membership in case you guys know of some good "members only deals" .

Thanks all,
-Chris

- Typing this from a 40" TV, 3 feet in front of me. Wouldn't want anything smaller for a desktop monitor now that I'm used to it. Aim for bigger if this is going to be wall mounted.

- Why? Proprietary apps are almost always bad, have limited support/updates, and can require extra hardware.

Be good for FPS gaming. xbox live, etc. (No notable or excessively bad delay or lag time from signal inputs or motion-blur)
- Depends on the TV's setting and what extra filters/engines you're using. Best bet is to Google that specific model and figure out how people have them set up correctly for the application. Wayy too many people have the (wrong) mindset that there is a hardware limitation causing these issues.

Hopefully be able to watch/stream .mkvs or other file types
- Possible, but again you're limited by crappy proprietary interfaces. Don't make this a decision factor.

To spend < $1000, but if there is some "must have" TV just above it, I could increase budget. (really looking for bang for buck)[/B]
- Lots of options. TV you listed looks decent in terms of value.

The brands I've looked at are: Samsung, Panasonic, Vizio, and Sharp.
- Consider Sony if the budget allows. Support has always been incredible for me.
As above.

It's amazing to me that a non M E46 is such a beautiful car but the E46 M has never done much for me.

I'd get a Panasonic Plasma. Plasma picture quality is still much better than LCD. I'd not worry about apps and such. Get get a WDTV or a Rasberry Pi or a Apple TV to go with it. Much better functionality.

Anything Panasonic, LCD or Plasma. They have the lowest failure rate in the industry, while Samsung on the other hand has near the highest (~3x as high as Panasonic). The only brands less reliable are Westinghouse in LCD (8 per 100 failure) and LG for Plasma (6 per of 100).

I've owned a Sony top of the line LCD before too. It was still kicking when I sold it nine years later.
