I find my battery life MUCH better with the new update

I've noticed zero change in battery life with the various updates.

People complain about this every time there is a new update. What is probably happening is that people or the phones are backing up/restoring/syncing after the update, and the battery is draining as a consequence of that, not the update itself.

I think the only legitimate complaint was for 6.0, as there was a problem where it would switch to LTE even when you had wifi when you were asleep. 6.0.1 fixed that problem.

However, I did notice the same problem once when I was on 6.0.2. The battery life overall was fine, but it showed LTE when I woke my phone up and I was connected to wifi. So I'm not sure if the problem crept back in.

I've gone something like 2 days on standby, and 8-10 hours of usage. Wifi most of the time, but the phone wasn't babied otherwise. I just use it when I need it. That includes leaving it unplugged overnight while I sleep.

I have noticed that on 6.0.1, it drained maybe 1% overnight, but now it is 5%+. I am running trillian now, though, so it's an uncontrolled for variable.

Might want to check any 3rd party apps that may be draining it.

Everything was closed. Just wifi was on

Why does it show these lines instead of time intervals? I had it charged to 100% before usage. Is this normal?

Because you have been respringing after downloading cydia apps/tweaks.

It will work again after your next full charge. But if you respring in the middle of a discharge cycle, it will show that again.

It's something on your phone. Are you telling me you kill all your apps before you go to bed? Even if you are not running it with it open, some things run in the background.

You can try killing all apps before you sleep one night, and seeing if that helps. You can try another night with killing apps and putting the phone on airplane mode to see if that helps. If neither of those help (~1% drain over night), then you may have a bad battery. You can try restoring the phone via itunes to double check.

Or you can try calibrating the battery. Slowly drain it all the way down to 1%, shut down the phone, then let it charge to 100%.

Yes, that particular night I turned everything off, closed all apps and only had wifi on. I'll turn on airplane mode and test it.


There is a rather lengthy thread on apple forums about this very problem. I'm not the only one

If you reset your phone or charge a bit in the middle of a discharge the same thing happens.

My battery is draining way faster now

My battery has never been a problem. Took it off the charger at 9am, have been on Facebook, Twitter, Internet, played games, texting, and phone calls, and I'm still at 90% at 12:30

What is your brightness at?

My phone drained 4% on standby with 10 email alerts over 8 hours.

Brightness is about 1/4. No bluetooth, rarely use wifi since LET is faster, I close all apps after I use them except whatsapp is always open. I take a lot of pictures, play a few games, instagram, fb, twitter, etc.

And LTE is what is killing your battery.

My battery isn't being killed lol, my battery is great. Also, according to Apple, 3G and 4G LTE use the same amount of battery (8 hours on 3G or 4G LTE, 10 hours on WiFi).

are you serious? so it constantly has to be on to show a reading there?
