Speedometer maxes out when i turn car on
Hi, today i noticed when i turned on my car the speedometer shot up to 250km/hr and just stayed maxed out. The rpms and the temperature and gas gauge work properly but the speed and the mpg needles do not. Ive tried the cluster reset and the battery disconnect with no luck.also checked fuses 10,34,and 43 Another problem on the never ending list

Looking at the non oem background, it's most likely a messed up motor or mid aligned needle.

Battery light on.
Go to test 9 in OBC give us results with car on / off 12.5-14.0 car running 12.0-12.6 car off at least iirc those are normal numbers. if while running, numbers dont match up, alternator is poo-ed out. |

ok will post back shortly, would the alternator cause weird issues with speedo and/or cluster? also noticed the digital part with the mileage and clock is flickering faintly

12.1-12.3 volts off
11.3 steady while running |

that 11.3 is probably going to diminish... does it ever go higher?
I wouldn't rule out alternator ad a problem but being that the car is already NOT being charged, that is another problem that could affect your current one. Same as before, see if you can pull up OBC 9.0 = Get current reading with car running. Then go to hood, find alternator, unplug sensor part, then go back to OBC see if it changes. If your is already at 11.3 v while running, your alternator already isn't charging though so yeah.. that's your first problem! |

Voltage should be in the 13's when the car is running. A quick and easy alternator check is to start the car and then pull the ground off the battery. If the car stays running, the alt is working, if it dies the alt is bad. These cars start acting really weird when there is a voltage problem so the battery should be checked out also.

Yes.
Don't try driving the car because your battery will be next to die too! Make sure you get it fully charged before you hook up the new alternator so you don't fry it! |
