Not cheap, but not a hundred bucks like CTD either. Also, for a good cause, not just more gouging.

All, I am looking for some advice. I am starting to consider picking up optics in the future. Unfortunately the M15 A2 has a fixed carry handle. Would this be the solution I would need to do in order to convert the rifle to a flat top? If so, is it worth it?

I am also wondering if a .22LR conversion is worth picking up to have as a second set of ammo selection.

Thanks!

Yeah, that will make it a flattop. It's a polylithic upper design, so you would not use any other handguard/rail system.

The convervion bolt will pay for itself in a few boxes of ammo at current prices. While I wouldn't recommend switching over to using .22 for drills, if you are just plinking or introducing someone to the AR for the first time it's a great option.

You can also just get a gooseneck to mount an optic forward of the carry handle.

Much less elegant solution, but also a fortieth of the cost.

guh, a little peeved(but not worth making a thread over). picked up noveske(troy) buis for the noveske and the fitment of the front buis on the NSR rail is absolute garbage. i had to file down the front few rail sections on the NSR to accept the front buis because they were just simply too thick. i dont know if this is by design or if my particular rail slipped through quality control.

i really like noveske's products, however im a bit annoyed with this fitment issue.

Where did you get the front sight from? Noveske could have an out of spec rail I would contact them. I had a similar problem with Daniel Defense and when I sent my rail in I learned that my rail was actually fake. Are you sure the troy sights are legit? There are a ton of fakes floating around.

i bought the sights from noveske directly, and the rail from rainier arms. im pretty sure both are legit. i got the sight to fit, but i had to file the front rails a little bit. i've read that while this isnt a common occurance at all, it does happen.

just from handling the rifle i love it. i havent had a chance to shoot it yet. it is a lot more comfortable so far than my DD LITE rail (apples and oranges i know). and this thing is tiny! i mainly got it for my fiance so she can shoot it more comfortably with her smaller hands. its sleek, sturdy and purdy. thats why im so bummed about the spec issue.

you can see just how much thinner this thing is.
