Both tail light warning lights lit help

Both my tail light warning lights stay on on my 99 323i
I checked bulbs ,I took out ground wire out of both sides
and grounding them to body,no good,what else can I
look for??

Check your plate lamps. If one is out, it will illuminate the rear tail out on the dash. Drove me crazy for about a year until I accidentally figured it out, lol.
