Exactly my point. But a better ratio AND an LSD is win.

OK. That post was very informative! I am looking into the X3 diff then. My car is a 5 speed manual(soon to be a 6 speed). Here is my question.

WILL A 330(6 SPEED TRANS.) BOLT UP TO A 328CI. IF SO, I WILL CONVERT TO THE 6 SPEED. WILL THE 330 6SPEED TRANS BE A "PLUG N' PLAY"?

HERE IS MY IDEAL SETUP... PLEASE ADVISE IF I WILL RUN INTO PROBLEMS DOING THIS SETUP.

MY CAR 2000 328Ci
THE CONVERSION I WANT TO DO:

-330 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANS. CONVERSION
-X3 DIFF (ASSUMING ITS A 3.91)

WILL THIS REQUIRE ANY SPECIAL PARTS OR PART "RIGGING"

bumping to inject a little intelligence into the forum, and take a break from crappy plasti-dip cars and neon wheels.

just had this completed last month in my 02 325i - absolutely worth it!

paid $300 for the diff and had it installed while I was having the subframe reinforcement welded in. also, put in new bushings at the same time.

No TCU software. Car pretty much tops out at 145

My Ride: is slow.
when buying a drive shaft, does it matter if the donor car had a GM or ZF auto trans?

Has anyone done this swap on their 330 and swapped the input flanges instead of the driveshafts?
I have this diff ready to install on my 330 if i can swap the input flange, just need some conformation that it will be long enough and bolt up

EDIT- Also does this 3.91 diff not have a drain plug?? I seemed to only locate one fill plug.
