Yup, blue tape and that brown paper roll used to cover floors when painting inside your house. Circulars work well as well. You will lay down a base (like white) then let it dry, mask out your pattern, and go to town. The masking will take you 95% of the time. Spraying is the easiest part.

I can help you with a bunch of questions, but you can also join the dipyourcar forums for answers to any and every question. If you want tip top results, I recommend you get the pro car kit, which comes with a gun and gallons rather than rattle cans. With gallons, you can also do custom colors. You can do the base in a custom color, and then the camo spots with cans.

+1, preparation is 95% of the work when it comes to painting. You fvck up the prep work and you fvck up the entire paint job.

So in order to get the urban camo look i'd need to put down a coat of white on the entire thing, let that dry, and then begin taping up the "camo" shapes?

EDIT: I don't need to do anything to the actual car paint before applying the plastiDip, Do i?

Plastidip is far more forgiving, with the exception of wax. You need to make sure your paint is 1150% wax free. That means washing the entire car with degreaser, then again with undiluted dawn, then parked in the garage overnight to dry. Then, you wipe the entire car down with alcohol (home depot) and you'll be ready to spray. If there is ANY wax on the paint, the dip won't stick.

If i haven't put a coat of wax on my car in like 7 months, do you think that'd work?

Yes, but it doesn't have to be white. It can be whatever you want....

I would still do all of my steps. You need to take off everything, including road crap, road oil, etc etc etc.

Why would you waste money on that gay ass car, my neighbor had one, just sell that stupid thing and buy a real car.

Oh ok. I'm looking around the Dipyourcar website and i see the have standard jungle camo colors, but i'm not seeing any other colors (similar to the navy camo or urban camo).

I found the "colors" tab but i don't see flat white or grey

Those were sprayed with gallons. The GTI you see above, the base is called "blueberry blue." It is basically the blue they sell (gallon) with 1/3rd gallon of black dip...so 2/3 blue and 1/3rd black to make one gallon of dip. The other color on the GTI are black and plastidip smoke.

I've seen it on everything from Hondas, to VWs, to Porsches, to Aston Martins, to Ferraris, etc. It basically made wrap obsolete.

I was thinking about an olive green too perhaps. But my heart is set on the urban camo colors

The dip you see on the internet is 98% a camera trick, always far away never really revealing detail.

In real life, plastidip looks like sh!t and makes the car look ghetto. Like super-beater status.

The worst part is if you mess up an area, and try to re-spray it - it ends up coming out even worse and you'll end up tearing it all off because of how bad it fills on top of existing plastidip.

My friends company ended up camo-wrapping their cars, but that cost 2k~

tldr plastidip is dumb and good for things like badges and grills, that's about it.
