Please help! Starting issue

I know there might be threads on this already but I'm at work and can't search all day, so here it goes.

Car wouldn't start had to get a ride from buddy. All lights come on dash, headlights, interior but won't start. No cranking, like when you try and start it without clutch engaged. Try it a couple times then starts perfectly like nothing's wrong. Turned it off try again and starts fine. Done this twice now so didnt want to drive in.

Read some things, starter, battery, key fob and then clutch pedal switch. Seems like clutch pedal switch to me but is there any to test this. Any other thoughts or insight greatly appreciated. Only had this car 2 weeks so kinda a bummer today. Thanks

Update

When I was at work my wife used my spare and it started up jus fine. Got home and both keys start it just fine. I re synced the keys just to try it. I'm now leaning more in the direction of the starter. Might have landed on a dead spot. Just have to wait until it does it again I guess. I'll be pricing starters is the mean time.

The battery in the key has nothing to do with starting. its only there for the remote door locks you can start the car without a fob battery. If you hear nothing when turning the key most likely the clutch switch i would start there first i dont know how to bypass the switch maybe try tapping the wires together to complete the circuit

I keep reading all these people that have had starter problems. My symptoms seem similar. I dot have a problem changing the starter if I knew for sure that's what it was. Should I here clicking from the starter?

Starting issue update. Starts fine when I'm home trying to trouble shoot it. Starts in the morning and drive to work. After work, turn key nothing, turn again and started. At least it started sooner this time. Starts fine again at home and again this morning. I'll wait and see after work. Hope no problems being valentines day and all. I hate waiting to see if it starts, but I don't want to order a starter I it just the key or clutch sensor.

Finally tried to start my M3 and no start but heard the whirrr of the starter. Decided to just change it. Saw a bunch of threads that said they only paid $140-180 for the starter. I had to pay $215. Did it from the top. Only problem was the external torx bolts on the starter. Bought a socket because I could not find a e-torx wrench. Found out there's no way a ratchet will fit up top. It must be impossible to find a e-torx wrench without ordering one. Ended up getting a ratcheting craftsman gear wrench that works with e torx. Got a 3/8" but was a little fat. Used a grinder to thin it out and worked perfect! Has been starting fine so far.
