Rear lights
Hi Guys
I have a bmw e46 2005 coupe 3 series and wondered about the rear lights i have leds,if it is a sealed unit as i have a section of lights out ?? do i have to buy a whole unit or a bulb ? |

Yep, you need a whole new unit. If you're willing to do some work, you can extract a circuit board from one with a broken lens if you want to and replace it. Which side is out? I have a fully working passenger-side circuit board I'll sell you.
You can take the unit apart if you are extremely careful. You'll need: - A razor or box cutter (something very sharp) - Clear silicone sealant - Clamp Run the box cutter along the seam until you find an area where it will separate the lens from the housing. You'll eventually find an area, but do not force it. Once you get an area to slightly separate, the whole lens should come off easily. From there, you'll remove a few clips inside the housing, unscrew the screws you see on the back, then reassemble it with the clear silicone sealant. Personally, I recommend just finding a used unit on eBay that works. In the end, that's what I did.
