How do I fix this problem? (Rear tail lights)

Hi all. I'm brand new and figured this would be the best place to ask for help. I have a 2004 BMW 325I. Anyways, my rear driver's side tail lights are out. Forgive me for my lack of car lingo, but I removed the lights and unplugged the fuses that connect to the lights. One of the must've sparked and burned a hole in one of them. It's probably a stupid question, but I do not know much about cars. I'm trying to learn more.

Is this something I can fix myself that is relatively cheap? (With the guidance of someone who does know about cars) Or should I just take it to a shop and shell out $200? Thank you so much for any help or suggestions!!

I moved your thread over to the E46 general forum section. What does the other side of the connector look like? If it is just the end on the wiring harness you should be able to get a replacement and swap the wiring over.

that is an known problems with this cars, there's even a recall about this, use the search button to find out more about that recall.

^ this. I got my rear tail lights fixed at the dealership for free.

I got mine checked for free at the dealer, but they said only certain cars like the coupe's were covered.

My driver tailight on my sedan was covered under the recall. I found the recall number and contacted BMWNA and they called my dealership and set up the appointment for me. Couldn't have been easier!

Welcome. Freebie recall fix. Had mine done (which look identical) about 3 months ago. No issues since.
