Replaced thermostat. Used aftermarket cast metal one. Shall see if any differance. From my observations of the old one still on engine, looking from under car, leak appeared to come from bottom bolt area. Thought maybe a crack. Upon removing and inspecting the old one it was actually leaking from the center portion where the electrical stuff is. Not the outer seal as speculated. O ring inside electrical connector bad. Not something to repair.

nope, did lots of reading here first... went with Goetz... 60k miles btw, oil changes every 5k (and, yes, i know now that a longer interval is preferred and have switched to 7500)

gaskets were stiff, plasticized in some spots... lot of condensate on inside of vc as well, too many short trips in car... needs a good long drive

Had a guy buff the car this past weekend. Looks good, except he didn't use swirl remover for all the marks. Fail. So I had to buy Meguiars Swirl X and do it myself and the results are much better.

I highly recommend GENUINE BMW ONLY on VCG. It's not that much from the dealer. I had 3 VRs go out in a row. Now using BMW and dry as a bone on the desert floor in the middle of summer!!!!
