I think these are going for $50-80. I bought one for $50 a few months ago.

Where'd you buy it? In what condition? Age? Post a link, please.

BMW Dealership prices are irrelevant. Factor in depreciation of the car and you'll get a good idea how much this HVAC unit is actually worth.

My car might have been $42k new, so with your pricing method it should be worth around $21k by now.

^It's not necessarily true that retail prices are "irrelevant" nor is it accurate to base the depreciated value of a part on the depreciation of the vehicle on which it belongs.

However, I'll entertain the rebuke. A car is far different than a single component so you can't base the depreciation percentage of that single component on that of the whole automobile. Besides, if you look at the major breaker yards (i.e. car-part.com) you'll see that they're all asking at least $200 for even sub-par units (and units far older than mine). I'm asking what the used market it asking - and my component is superior to most of those out there at the same price.

Think I haven't done my research?

One more thing: my price is an "asking" price, not a "fixed" price. To thwart confusion, I even state "OBO" in the OP.

Thanks for your input.

By all means, you can ask whatever price you'd like. There was a guy asking $600 for a Business CD deck and stock speakers. He was laughed down to $140 and still didn't make the sale.

What I'm saying is that prices have to be proportionate to your target market, which are owners of sub-10k, decade old cars.

Good luck with the sale, this is the revised HVAC control unit at least.

I would be interested, at a much lower price, but I don't want to insult you with a low offer. I am glad to see that others thought the price was fairly high. If you decide to adjust to a more reasonable price, PM me.
