How bad is candy?

I dont eat chocolate candy. But sometimes I get a crave for something sweet and these two are my favorite. Weight watchers wise the basically count nothing or maybe 1 point. What are your thoughts?

Chocolate candy is the worst, because its combining fats and carbs together, which instantly becomes body fat... you will burn it off if you are under your calories for the day/week/month etc but it still converts to fat initially.

There is nothing wrong with simple sugar candy (like above) from a fat gaining standpoint (and this goes for any food) if your total calorie intake is less than your calories burned. From a nutritional standpoint they are useless, chemical filled garbage... but still nice to have on occassion!

Each individual candy may have little to no calories (50 or less) and on its own will have no significant effect on your body composition / insulin sensitivity. However, most people eat a lot at one time, and when the calories/carbs add up you get two negative effects, one is non satiating (filling) calories and increased insulin levels, which when combined with the excess calories, leads to fat gain.

I respect weight watchers because it simplifies calories and macronutrients, and if it fits within your "points", you are all good.

Cliffs: Do nothing for you, and could be a main factor in fat gain if your total calorie intake is greater than your expenditure from metabolism/exercise.

i used to read a lot of posts on bb.com where people ate simple sugar candies (like the ones in OP's pics) after a workout to get their carbs back up. is this all just broscience?

no that's actually legit. Much like dextrose, or the chocolate milk everyone is getting on these days.

yeah easy source of simple carbs... obviously there are better routes but that'll do.

Extra extra dark chocolate is cool. One or two squares every so often. But that kind of chocolate is more of a learn to like it thing. But has a lot of other health benefits. Love me some Ghirardelli! The more pure the cocoa content the better!

When you get a sweet tooth, just drink 16oz or more of water.
