Serious Question About Sirius

While I didn't max out my credit card to buy SIRI, I picked up 4000 shares @1.37 in 2010, then another 3500 @1.76 in 2011 in my IRA. Got a dividend of $375 at the end of last year. All being said, made roughly $12,000 off the stock in two years.

Is it time to sell and invest into something a bit more stable? It's been a great ride, but it takes up a bit more of my portfolio than it should. I know I should sell just to diversify, but I'm not sure with Liberty Media taking control in the next month or so.

They are still in debt up to their eyeballs.

I bought 200 shares in 2001/2002 at 8 dollars and another 200 when it fell to 5 dollars and it continued to drop and drop and drop...........I think I sold out at 2 dollars or so in 2010. It seems like it has not moved out of the 2 dollar range for ages.

They have a good product, I subscribed for 7,8 years. But it gets installed for free on new cars for 90 days and the retention rate was not that high. When car sales slumped so did their revenue. It might be picking up but they still have lots of debt.

Take the money and run.

I would sell. They just had a huge turnover and Stern is getting more and more pissed every day.

There's nothing wrong with the chart. Always ride ur winners n dump ur losers! Have a stop limit to protect ur profit. It's testing the high of last month, if it breaks it then raise ur stop otherwise if fails, this will test the 3.1 or 2.98ish down to 2.9.

Congrats !!! now buy me a beer.

There r better opportunities out there than a slow moving train.

Will mobile data streaming not make sat radio obsolete in a few years (coverage issues)?

I think there is currently just as much problem with coverage for mobile data. It's easy to forget when you live in/near a major city, but mobile data still sucks or is non-existent in most areas of the country. That will likely change in the future but I don't think it will happen very quickly.

I can get out now with 4k profit. I'm not here to ask what to do, but what do I do? lmao

I'm holding on the basis you should never sell a winning stock..

If you never sell a winning stock then all you will ever have is losses or paper gains, neither of which provide you with any real benefits.

Got out at $3.50. Nice little profit. Of course, it went to 3.58, but I'm fighting off the greed factor and need to do some research into what to replace it with.

Still kicking myself that I didn't gobble up some Netflix when it was at $80......

Oh man, the old Sirius stock. My only great Sirius story goes like this: When I was in HS, I was building computers for a friend of my dad's who was doing day trading. Back in the day, it was top-notch stuff with 4 monitors and 8GB ram. My name got passed around to his day trading buddies and I ended up building computers for each of them. One of the guys in his 60's was always asking me about technologies that I thought were cool because he was convinced that if the kids thought it was cool, then it would catch on and the stock would be worth something. I mentioned Sirius. Thought nothing of it for a while. He called me about 2 years later. He had bought $1M worth at $2.xx and sold it after they hired Stern at $7.xx. He bought himself a new Ferrari 360 Spyder. He gave me his 3 month old Nissan 350z free and clear as a thank you. So, I guess I made $30kish on Sirius.

I have a chunk that I bought at $4.xx. I'll hold onto them until I either make a few bucks, or they're worthless and I can take them as a tax write off.

Yeah I hear ya. And that makes sense. But for the past 4-5 years I've been holding a number of stocks and it's been a good decision. Obviously I could have sold and put the money in different companies in an attempt to achieve higher returns, but I'm really not that smart lol.

I think I got lucky and got in at the right time, but to be able to buy and sell in this market, I think you have to be on your game and do your homework.

Ended up dumping everything at 3.95 after they reported earnings. Been holding since 2008 and its nice to finally ring the register.

Also sold VG.

Had way to much cash in these pointless stocks.

Time to invest more in AMZN GE and GOOG.
