Thanks so much you guys. Much clearer to me now. I just have to muster up some serious patience until the right manual 330 comes on the local market. It's not going to be easy... I'm going to do some serious research into what's right for me. I foresee many test drives in my near future.

Yea I have a 330xi it's fast but nothing too extreme. And it's a classy car but nothing too flashy cops look at. It's a good medium car

I just bought my 03 330i only after test driving a 325 328 and a 95 318 and none drove better, rode better, and delivered the power as fluently as the 330 I ended up buying but GL and buy what makes you happy!

My Ride: 6spd ZHP/5sp XI
I'm in the hunt for an XI also. Manuals are slim pickens, I'm going to test drive a manual 325xi next week to see how it feels. If I don't like it I'll just hunker down and find the right 330.

It would be pretty awesome to have a 330xi 6 speed. But beggars can't be choosers.

^You live in NY, do you really need AWD? I get that it sucks when it snows, but snow tires make a world of difference. I've never had an issue getting around in any of the RWD BMW's I've owned in the past 5 years, including driving in the blizzard we had here a few years ago.

I have had a 330i and it's a good car in the snow. But when you pack the at full of people and got a load of skis on the top. Rwd isn't going anywhere but backwards. Awd just makes it that much better for us snow people

325xi is horribly slow. Really, coming from a Cayenne Turbo, any E46 (including the M3) will feel slow

I realize that, but I just love the e46s, always have, and I want to make one my own and join the community. I don't need an m3 or anything that fast just something that'll put a smile on my face every once in a while.
