Colorado 15 mag limit...what does it mean to current mag owners.

Colorado guys, we know the law is getting passed. For use with several pre-ban mags, what does that mean. Shotgun over 8 rounds, mags over 15 rounds.

There is talk about dates on mags. How is this going to be enforced? No way to check mags.

If you have a pre-ban mag, can you sell it?

Right now I consider every mag I have from 75 rounds and down, to the Saiga 12 drums pre ban and I own them, bought them legal.

Any Colorado guys have insight to this? Heck, even my 6 mags for the HK MP-5 22LR are considered banned now, plus my 4 Sig P226 TacOps 20 round mags.

I'll take those 226 mags off your hands, you know, to save you from becoming a criminal. For this service, I won't even charge you. Heck, I'm such a great guy, I'll even pick up the cost of shipping.

So if they are grandfathering mags, and sticking numbers on new ones, why not just buy from other states that don't have any markings and claim it was a grandfathered mag? I don't understand how they are going to enforce this.

Well, looks like every mag I own will be grandfathered. Will not be able to sell them, but why would I. They also in the bill, say proof of burden in on the State. Still, the entire thing is a big joke. I never thought in Colorado this would happen. Well, it get signed into law today and is done with I believe the law taking place 1 June.

Colorado is losing lots of jobs from Magpul over this and a few other companies. Next elections might make the state very different....thanks to the loss in jobs and revenue. Still, sad we lose Magpul. Great company, great products, and they actually went above and beyond to get us Colorado guys mags before the end..

I'm curious to find out too. I better go cancel my order at dsg arms. That probably won't get filled until December at this rate.

Are my 15 round mags good to go? Or is it 15 and under = ok? Or 15+=bad?

That is where we are at before the signing today. It shows how they modified it from 10 - 15 round mags. Guess we got a 5 round bonus to 15....LOL. I feel free. Looks like there is a implementation date of 1 July also.

It means absolutely nothing to me personally. I will continue to do whatever I think is right for me and my family, period.

Agree with all of you, except for one small problem I thought about...suppose someone breaks into your house, and you let him have it with your glock 19 with a 15 round mag....police arrive, and you are in violation of a law....should give the DA a little more ammo no?

(This isn't really aimed towards colorado, lets say NY where they will be illegal to own)

In cases of this, laws can be broken for the greater good.

That's like saying: an intruder breaks in and you beat him down with a 10 pound bag of cocaine. Police won't care because the result was good.
I know this is a far fetched example but the police see an illegal object as illegal no matter what context it's used in.

The violation is ex post facto and plus it would work in your favor that you used it in defense of yourself..a jury would not convict you

At that point, I'd just be happy my family and I were safe and that I had successfully defended my home.
