Asking about a brand may not get you a lot of helpful information.
Each brand offers many lines of tires. Each line may be more or less competitive in its class than others are in their classes. Even a tire that doesn't "seem" competitive may work well for you because of particular characteristics. For example, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS is OK as a hig-perf all-season tire. But it is a rock star when the roads turn cold, and, especially, covered with water in solid form (just don't expect it to compete with a dedicated winter tire).
What you want may--or may not--be what someone else values. Determine what is important to you: wet traction, dry traction, responsiveness, feedback, noise, ride comfort, tread wear, etc. Then narrow your choices down to a class (or two) of tires that tries to hit that profile. Then, perhaps on price, narrow it down to a half-dozen or so promising candidates.
We took a chance by mounting Dunlop Sport Maxx TT rubber on one of our e46s last year. It is a summer-only tire. We have been very pleased with its characteristics in both the wet and dry. Not going to do a track day on them, but they are more than capable enough for street use. Much more comfortable than the last two sets of tires. A nice bonus is that they are quieter, too.
Are there better overall tires for us? Yes. Why did we go with the TTs? When we were shopping, they were on special. They cost half of what the others did. Made the decision easy. If we didn't like them, well, we weren't out too much money. As it turned out, the savings helped fund a little weekend getaway
