Swap eletric power steering for hydraulic ?

Hi

Does anyone know if it's somehow possible to swap electric power steering for hydraulic ? I have 325i with electric power steering and while the steering is still good, it's nowhere near as good as on my previous 320d with hydraulic power steering. Wouldn't just simple power steering motor replacement (the one right behind dashboard) be enough ? I mean, there is power steering fluid reseirvoir (ATF oil only). I'm no mechanic, so I'm not really sure how the power steering works, but if it's doable for some reasonable money, I'd go for it.

Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, all E46s came with hydraulic power steering. Did you retrofit the Z4 electric system or something?

Is there no way to trick the input signals to do whatever you are looking for? What exactly is your issue with it? Is it because of diesel had heavier steering?

Sorry for late reply, I forgot about this thread. The "problem" is that my car is equipped with electrical power steering like all modern BMWs except M cars, so the road feel is nowhere as good as with hydraulic, so I was just wondering if it's possible to swap it.

Not if you have servotronic, then it's eletrical. It's that kind of steering that is light at low speeds and stiff at high speeds, but the wheel feedback is not that great, especially in center position.
