Prokit, Sportline, H&R Sport, H&R Race comparison pics

I've been doing a lot of research on these 4 springs trying to decide which to get and finding all of the pictures I could of them on the forums. I figured I'd post the compilation with what I've come up with so far and maybe that will help others in making their decision a little easier. For now I'll just post the links to the posts members have made showing their cars.

*Added a few more. Note there is some disagreement over which springs come with the H&R sport cupkit and H&R touring cupkit. I took sport cupkit to mean race springs and touring cupkit to mean sport springs. This may not be the case and the cupkits may have unique springs. After looking at many pics it doesn't seem like people are dropping 1.5" front on the sport cupkit over stock sport suspension as H&R claims. 1.5" would probably be tucking tire, which most of the pics of the sport cupkit do not.

From H&R website:
Sport Spring12 w/ sport sus .75" .25" 29484
Race Spring12 40 w/ sport sus 1.1" .90" 50484-88
Touring Cup Kit12 w/ sport sus .75" .25" 31019T-3
Sport Cup Kit12 w/ sport sus 1.5" 1.2" 31019-3

After installing H&R race springs with Koni sports, new sport suspension bump stops and front reinforcement plates I'm at 12.75" front and 12.5" rear.

If anyone could post their ride height measurements, center of hub to fender along with model that would also be helpful.

Stock sport suspension, '03 330i is about 13 5/8" front, 13 3/4" rear

Eibach Prokit is 1.4" from non-sport, so ~0.8" from sport. Eibach Sportline is 1.8" from non-sport, so ~1.2" from sport. They claim same drop front and rear. Drops for H&R are in my original post. I don't think these published numbers mean much after looking at actual installs though. It also seems to depend on which dampers are used to some extent.

Stock ride height (from rim edge to wheel arch) for reference:

I've resized and overlaid these images of the prokit and sportline:

There is no discernible difference

These numbers seem very misleading. My car at least has never sat 1.4" higher in the rear

Well all numbers point to having larger distance between arch and wheel edge at the front rather than the rear.

Great Post! I have been tossing around the Idea back and forth between coil-overs and springs because I don't like the raked look. Contrary to what is said it appears that the H&R Race does not give as bad of a raked look even though Eibach claims an equal drop front and rear. Thoughts? edit: (This could be the removal of the spring pads in the rear)

Now, cup kit for ~$650 or just race springs and Koni adjustable for the $g......

That's what I've observed in reality, but that chart shows the exact opposite, higher ride in the back than front.

Thanks! In my opinion the Eibach prokit may be a fairly even drop, but at the same time the H&R race and sport don't seem to have as much rake as people say. The Eibach sportlines do appear to have a fairly significant rake as well, in some cases more than the H&R race even with spring pads removed. I finally decided to go with Koni yellows and H&R race springs.

These are sportlines with the rear pads removed:

Nice thread man!

Iam on Koni FSDs/Eibach Pro Kit and 18s.. It's nice and comfortable.. but i wanted the rear to sit 1cm lower..

What i remember when i was looking for info on my current set up is that the Pro Kit lowers the sedan more than the coupe.. (correct me if iam wrong)

Do H&R sports lower the coupe more than Pro Kits..?? Which springs are considered "softer" H&Rs or Pro Kit springs..??

Is it safe to remove the rear spring pads..??

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/attachm...4&d=1124464361

Example:
Front ride height (15" wheels, sport suspension): 561mm/22,08"
Rear ride height (15" wheels, sport suspension): 526mm /20,70"

So the higher number - the higher ride height.
Front ride height has higher number - how can that mean the opposite?

Thanks! I haven't seen any info on if the coupe/sedan is lowered more. Most of the prokit pics I found were on sedans, which is what I was interested in personally. Not sure which are softer either, but I'd guess it also depends on which dampers are used. I've mostly heard of prokit used with the FSD and I haven't seen anyone mention anything other than its very comfortable. Should be safe to remove the rear spring pads, but some people have complained of some noise when doing so, so it's a possible trade-off there. Maybe you get lucky and have no noise.

Finally put the suspension on last weekend. I went with Koni yellows and H&R race springs. It's not too low, no rake at all imo, but it's a little rough and I hate hearing the interior panels vibrate on every bump. It kind of makes me think I should've gone with the FSD eibach kit, but I do like the height I have now.

FSDs with Pro Kit is very comfort combo..
I will try to find this thread that a conversation was made saying the Pro Kit springs seem to lower the sedan more..
Are H&R sports lower than Pro Kit?
I see that there are thinner rear spring pads.. but i can just remove them first and then i will see..
As far as H&R and Eibach about softness, i had Bilsteins with Eibach and it wasn't very comfort combo (E46 sedan with 15") and i went for a ride with E46 coupe, sedan, vert with 18" and Bilstein-H&R and they were much better..
