May be old but I don't remember seeing it. My brakes feel "warped" maybe I'll just swap pads and she how it goes. Nice read, thanks OP

Why do you think I said what I said?
Bottom line is, you have no idea what a warped rotor looks like and have no idea what semi-metallic pad material sounds like when it is being chiseled off of a brake rotor. Those rotors are sound, owner applied brakes hard, possibly multiple times and then came to a complete stop burning pad material onto the surface of the rotor in that one spot- BOOM "warped" rotors.

I think I have a much better idea of what one looks like then you do.

I still think it's uneven pad deposits, and areas of lesser and greater wear, as stoptech was talking about. I guess it is semantics at this point. Last edited by mkodama; 03-21-2013 at 02:23 PM. |

Regardless of where we disagree here, I think we can all agree that having a wobbly rotor SUCKS. I bought new Meyle rotors from ECS tuning last November/December and they have already started to wobble. I was really disappointed when I got the boxes that were stamped "Meyle Germany" all OVER the place and in small writing it said "Made in China." So I was immediately skeptical at their longevity and they had recently over the past two months started to develop a wobble up front. After reading this article and having to go to another building for a work meeting, I decided that I would try to re-bed them as the pads and rotors are basically brand new. I bed them about 6-8 times on the way up and about 5 more on the way back and there is a significant noticeable difference. I really hope that whatever excessive pad deposit was on them was transformed into normal pad material that is evenly around the rotor now due to the heat from multiple hard braking events.
I guess we shall see...
