EML occasionally on.

I have a 2001 330ci 5speed. This all started last fall, my thermostat became stuck open, I didn't rush to change it because I didn't need a heater. Then Christmas night my water pump fails. So I park it till payday and replace both the stat and pump. About a week later my coolant light comes on. I had cracked my expansion tank. It was a small leak so I drove it for awhile just filling it up every couple of days till it got worse. Then a hose goes bad. So I park it for awhile having spent too mush on it for the time being. Now I have replaced the tank and hose but the EML light is on and it idles very rough and is intermittent with power. Like it revs slowly. Ive been on lots of threads on here, I don't know if it is a collapsed pipe, a TPS gone bad, carbon build up, or maybe a cam sensor. The EML only comes on sometimes. if I turn it off and right back on the light goes away. Please if anyone knows more about the EML triggers let me know. I would love to go back to enjoying my e46.

There are too many things to list that cause these symptoms.. if its EML only, I actually don't think it would be anything to do with your cooling system.

I would go through all components between the air box and the throttle body, clean the ICV and TB and their connections well. I remember reading that EML is usually triggered by sensors. Any codes? Does your vehicle get to full operating temperature when running long enough?

The only codes I can get it to come up with is Lean Bank 1 and 2. Which I have got before. The cooling system is all put together it heats up and the heater works great now. I also get a feel of lack of power, occasionally i can, in neutral, put the pedal all to the floor and it wont go higher than about 3,000 rpm? also if you rev it, it has a hard time catching itself and sometimes dies as i push in the clutch. That EML light goes off every time I turn the ignition off. So I can't get a reader to pick that up. I also as you said cleaned all the way to the block on the intake. So idk what to do.

Also I let it sit with a small amount of fuel in it. I cleared a "low fuel" code. Could it be something as simple as a fuel filter?
