Ok so I counted a little more than 8 revolutions total. However the stop location for each side were at different hands on the clock. How many times does the steering wheel tun when connected to the rack? Curious how much room for error I have. Granted one side felt like it legit STOPPED there, the other side had a fair amount of resistance but not a solid stop. I didn't want to go any further though for fear of ripping it. You think if I split the 8 and change in half and then move it to the 6 o'clock position ( so the wheel is dead center)I should be good?

Wow. Just tested my moms Volvo rack and it only turns about one and half revolutions either way from dead center. Looks like 8 revolutions is TONS of room

Swap went pretty well. Except the rear drivers side subframe bolt somehow got cross threaded, so I have to order up part # 2 (adaptor left)

Not too bad, only 33 on pelican parts. But a huge let down as I have to wait a solid amount of time for this....

Apart from that I just need an alignment and to put in the new PS fluid.

Congrats on the accomplishment.

Thanks bud, I was pretty excited myself. Felt pretty good to get it done. Now i just wish i had a beater so I could afford to work on/overhaul my e46 all the time ha

I am a bit concerned though because even though I lined up the steering coupler and the rack to the best of my ability, the tie rods are a bit uneven... I wasn't more than one spline off... Hopefully the alignment can compensate so I don't have to redo the steering coupler/rack contact point. That'll be a PINTA!

Alright. Quick question guys. I'm ordering a new adaptor for my subframe. My car has a production build date of 11/2000, so I'm looking for the first listing of part #2 correct? (There are two different ones depending on the date) http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...62&hg=31&fg=05

I'm assuming those dates are the build dates? I just want to be sure.
