so i just tried installing me and nothing is happening. i have the business player with mode button, have the open slot in the back of the head unit. plugged it in per the diagram, 2 wires on top one on bottom. the plug can only go in one way. no aux comes up... am i missing something???

EDIT: nvm just found out i have a 40 SV code not 43, wish i knew that was necessary to find out before i ordered the cable... oh well.

Would like to bump this thread with a huge THANK YOU! Did this mod and it works awesome.

I had an 8 pin connector for computer's front audio ports so I cut it in half and was left with a nice 4 pin connector. I removed 1 pin that was not needed and soldered the rest. This allowed me to easily plug it into the back of HU. THANKS!!!!

I had ordered the cable on ebay for $10 but 4 months later and it still isn't here. So I went ahead and put together this cable, works great! thanks for putting up all of the information for it!

Is there a fix for not being able to charge your phone while using AUX? I have this problem with my android phone and it's very annoying.

Let's DIY aux input cable.

Hello!

I just bought 330i 2004 two weeks ago, and I'm trying to make the aux cable for fun if I fail, I will just buy one

Anyways, I followed step 1 to 3 fairly well, but I can't do the step 4. Whenever I try to put those wires together, they fall off.

Can you explain how you put those wires together and hold them?

Works great, sound is very clean and clear, better than the MP3 cd53 HU I think
Now i can listen to most any media, without burning to disk.

Just make sure you hit play.

I use a ribbon cable and cut it down, just soldered on the wires to a 3.5 min jack and worked perfect. Took 30 min. I put a little plug in my ashtray near the light, looks like stock.

Question about Bass and Capacitors

I just completed my cable last night and everything works as expected except when I plug in the charger for my phone at the same time. I've read about the resistors and capacitors and I plan on purchasing those to integrate them into the cable today. My question is regarding the issues with the bass frequency. A lot of people are complaining about the bass after adding the capacitors in series. Has anyone looked into a way to resolve this? Would adding a larger capacitor (maybe 1uF instead of .22uF) help restore some of the lost bass from the capacitors acting as filters? Is there any other way to by-pass the capacitors and still allow me to charge my phone and use the AUX input at the same time?

Thanks

So after removing some PO aftermarket radio aux input that wasn't working, I hooked it all up but the it goes into aux mode for a second then goes back to cd. I made sure I have the right software version and everything. The red and white wires are audio cables, right? While the one without a separate cable around it is the ground...but it won't work right...weird :/

you just need to add a resistor to the cable as far as I'm concerned.

Just did this and it works awesome! I did't have any computer parts laying around, so instead I figured while I was at this I'd switch my automatic shift boot and plate, for the better looking manual boot design. And it deletes the shift position indicator light next to the gear shift. So I cut the two connectors off from the indicator light and connected the aux cable to both of the indicator connectors and they fit in the prongs perfectly together! sounds confusing but once you look at the indicator connectors you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem I had!
