Everything used to be easy to find. And then politicians and consumers lost their minds.

No, 21 is correct. A pistol grip shotgun is classified as an "other weapon" by the ATF and not as a shotgun or rifle. As such, a FFL can only legally sell them to people 21 or older.

Under the GCA, 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(29)(A), handgun means “a firearm which has a short stock and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand.” Federal law provides under 18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1), that if the firearm to be transferred is “other than a rifle or shotgun,” the purchaser must be 21 years of age or older.

Certain commercially produced firearms do not fall within the definition of shotgun under the GCA even though they utilize a shotgun shell for ammunition. For example, firearms that come equipped with a pistol grip in place of the buttstock are not shotguns as defined by the GCA. A firearm with a pistol grip in lieu of the shoulder stock is not designed to be fired from the shoulder and, therefore, is not a shotgun. Since it is a firearm “other than a rifle or shotgun,” the purchaser must be 21 years of age or older.

Thats wild, I owned a PG 12g when I was 19, got it from an FFL too. Whats stopping someone from buying a stock 500 and just slapping a pistol grip on it.

The ATF didn't make the clarification until 2009 regarding pistol grip shotguns so if you bought it before then from a FFL then they probably just treated it as a shotgun. Nothing stops someone from putting a pistol grip on a shotgun legally (even if they are 18-20) because the age restriction only applies to the age when a FLL can sell it to you, not when you can own it. Similar to how a FFL can't sell a handgun to an 18-20yr old but it's perfectly legal for them to own one or for me (as a private individual) to sell them one.

Such a dumb law, literally makes you less accurate but they make it harder to get.

Yeah. I think if it comes w/ a shoulder stock then you can sell it to someone 18 & up. Can't remember. You can just buy a shotgun at 18 then order a pistol grip online and swap it out though, right? I don't know the regulations on if you were to get caught with it though (being under 21) a lot depends on length, etc. You said it's perfectly legal, but I'm sure there are some kind of laws regarding it. I do know you can get it as a "gift" if you're at least 18 yrs. of age.

My ex owns a pawn shop. He has/had an AR w/ a grenade launcher on it. It was pretty awesome. Pointless, but awesome.

If it has a stock in it its 18 at an FFL.
Shotguns can have a stock and pistol grip.
As long as the barrel is 18" and OAL 26" a person only needs to be 18.
No stock, pistol grip only? 21

You need to consider state law too

For anyone with an 870, don't waste your money on this sh1t.

http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Cell...rds=recoil+pad

The fit is horrible, which is odd since Remington makes it.

It's probably a replica. lol. Synthetic.

They are good shotguns though. Get the lazer add on. I suggest replacing the mag follower, they are cheap. It's a cheap shotgun. In my opinion. Good if you take care of them, though.

It could be worse. It could be a Jimenez. Do they even make those anymore? lol

What's wrong with a synthetic stock, and why would I need a lazer on my shotgun?

You already answered the first question in a previous post.

The lazer. Same reason people throw aftermarket rims on a car.

It was more of a gesture. Not a recommendation.
