pre facelift headlight retrofit

Hello, being new to the site I'm not sure if this has been asked before but has anyone done a headlight retrofit on their e46? . I have just ordered a kit from the retrofit shop in the States so if anyone has some handy hints it would be appreciated. Cheers

Cheers for the offer. I have to wait for the left hand drive cut off part to arrive, they mistakenly send me an American set and I'd rather not blind oncoming traffic. Now all I have to do is get a set of h7 35 watt 6000k hid globes for the high beams and my lights will be set up just right .

hey mate,
they're just ebay specials at the moment as i've only got halogens. They're still pretty decent.
Im about to upgrade to OEM xenons so I didnt want to waste too much money on this current set.

Don't get HID globes for your high beams, that's not what they're designed for.
You have bi-xenon projectors; so you can either deal with your high beam coming on with your bi-xenon shutter or do some fancy wiring with a relay so that only the bi-xenon shutter functions when you have lows on but retaining flash to pass during the day.

Not sure if I am late in the game but MARS Performance in Clayton have really good angel eye replacement full light housings for circa $500 with projection lens. I got mine, installed myself and am always complimented on the lights. Angel eyes are bright even for use as DRLs

^pretty sure they're just P46 Depo's, which are known for their lack of quality.

Just did a search on the P46 Depos, I will have to check if thats what they are and granted, I had to adjust the headlights to get the beam where I needed it without pissing off oncoming drivers. All I am saying is after some fiddling, they work well enough for me, I don't get flashed, I see what I need to see and am happy with the end result. Might not be everyone's preference and by no means am I saying there are the best product out there. Each to their own, thanks for the feedback on them though, I had not realised the general consensus was they are not worth their salt.

Well I bought my retrofit kit from a very well known company from the states. Never again, they sent out the kit with the incorrect wiring loom, they where for a left hand drive car and in the end I had to split and solder wires. From order date to installation was just under six weeks, at least yours where complete and your happy with them.

Yes and yes. They where very apologetic but I was still not impressed by the amount of time it took to rectify the problems

Tough luck bro, thats one of the reasons I went with a shop I could walk into and go straight back to should I have issues (oh and that I couldnt be asked having to wait for postage).

and I also loved the fact that the side lens I bought made the entire headlamp assembly look in my opinion very comprehensive/not tacky add on look, if that makes sense? See my signature pic to see what I mean, sometimes esp with the preFacelift E46, the headlamps and the turning lights look like 2 different pieces of two different sets put together. With MARS because I bought the 4 together (headlamps and side lights) it looks more solid imo
