Fuel Vacum Hose on N42

I have just had a complete mission changing over the CVV and all the pipes, was an intense job, especially as I had to do it twice as like a complete muppet I left one hose off and had to start all over again.

Anyways she is all back together now and running, which I feel is a miracle given the mare I had. That said I have just spotted that the vac hose that runs from the fuel filter to the elbow joint of the intake has snapped somewhere along the line. It' s the one after the MAF and I'm noty 100% sure what it does.

I have stuck a nail in to close the hole as I figured new air after the MAF would make it run lumpy. I have to drive 400 miles and I guess I'm asking will this bodge last until I can get the part and fix it.

What symptoms is this snapped likely to cause? Should I have left the hole open???
